What can you book?

• Topic boxes – borrow a box of replica items, activities and historical images related to your topic to use in your classroom for half a term
• In school sessions – invite us in for a 1- or 2-hour object handling and creative response session on a topic of your choice
• Museum visits – book a trip to our lovely museum for lots of fun exploration and creative activities on a topic of your choice

Some of our sessions:
History in Action: Should we create a national health service?, 2 hours, in school, KS3-5: Students take on the roles of historical figures, Clement Atlee, Aneurin Bevan, William Beveridge and Winston Churchill using primary sources to make a decision on healthcare in Britain in the aftermath of World War II.

WW2 and the Holocaust in Essex: The Loughton boys, 2 hours, in school, KS3-5: From December 1945 until January 1947, Loughton became the home to a small group of young Holocaust survivors who became known as the ‘Loughton Boys’. We will learn about their individual experiences and the wider context of the Holocaust and WW2 and creatively respond.

Local history study: Romans in the Epping Forest District, 2 hours, in museum, KS3-5: Visit the museum to see our new exhibition on the Romans: Town and Country: Life in Roman Durolitum and learn about what life would have been like in the Roman period in Essex! We will focus on Durolitum (Little London) which is between Chigwell and Abridge. The class will handle Roman objects particularly related to the Durolitum site, as well as see real museum objects up close! We will also create our own exhibition with replica objects.
