Memory Lane Tuesdays
Join us for a trip down memory lane from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm one Tuesday a month! We will explore objects and photographs from our permanent and handling collection related to different themes, to reminisce about life and the local area in the mid- to late 20th century. It is a great opportunity to chat with local people, find out more about local history and add to the museum’s knowledge of its objects!
Upcoming 2025 dates are:
16th September – Children of the 1950s
21st October – Pampering and fashion
18th November – Working life
16th December – Christmas 1940 to 1970
Cost is £3. You can pre-book here or just just turn up and pay at the front desk when you arrive, includes tea/coffee and biscuits.
Reminiscence Boxes and Facilitated Sessions
We also hire out our Reminiscence boxes to care homes and other settings for older people, to spark conversations and allow them to re-live precious memories. We can also deliver dementia-friendly reminiscence sessions within care homes, Alzheimer’s café’s and for other specialist groups.
Reminiscence boxes are free to hire, we just ask that the hirer collects and returns the box from and to the museum.
However, we do charge for sessions or talks (see Community tab for more details) delivered by our museum staff:
Talk or Reminiscence session in the museum for a private group:
- Daytime – £8.50 per person (minimum group charge £80.00)
- Evening – £10.50 per person (minimum group charge £90.00)
Talk or Reminiscence session at a venue within the Epping Forest District:
- Daytime – £60.00 per hour
- Evening – £70.00 per hour
Talk or Reminiscence session at a venue outside the Epping Forest District:
- Daytime – £70.00 per hour
- Evening – £80.00 per hour
